Amy Morton stars as Trudy Platt, a tough-as-nails desk sergeant on the NBC drama "Chicago P.D."
Morton is an actress, director and artistic associate of Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago. As an actress, she has a résumé of more than 30 theater productions and has appeared on Broadway in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" and "August: Osage County" (receiving Tony and Drama Desk nominations for best actress in both productions) as well as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
Film credits include "Up in the Air," "The Dilemma," "Rookie of the Year," "8MM," "Falling Down" and the indie "Bluebird," for which she won the Best Actress prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. She will next be seen co-starring with Blake Lively in "It Ends with Us," based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover.
On the TV side, Morton most recently guest-starred in FX's "The Bear" and recurred on "Blue Bloods" and Starz's "Boss."
Directing credits include "Guards at the Taj," "The Way West," "Penelope," "Clybourne Park," "American Buffalo," "Glengarry Glen Ross," "The Pillowman," "Dublin Carol" and many others.
Prior to joining Steppenwolf, Morton was a member of the Remains Theatre Ensemble for 15 years.
