Blake Shelton Gave Some of His Best Vocals Ever on This Black Crowes Cover
The Barmageddon host had a powerful take on this Black Crowes track in 2008.
Before his days as a Coach on The Voice and host on Barmageddon, Blake Shelton once showed off his storytelling abilities with an intimate cover of "She Talks to Angels" by The Black Crowes.
The now-viral performance, which took place in Nashville in 2008, started out with Shelton strumming his acoustic guitar. He then crooned the hard-hitting lyrics with his signature southern drawl, immersing himself in the music. Shelton used a slight rasp while he sang with emotion, and his voice soared with grit during the chorus. Watch the moving cover here.

"She Talks to Angels" by The Black Crowes lyrics
She never mentions the word "addiction"
In certain company
Yeah, she'll tell you she's an orphan
After you meet her family

She paints her eyes as black as night now
She pulls her shades down tight
Girl, give a smile when the pain come
Pain, the only thing don't make it alright
Says she talks to angels
Said they call her out by her name
Oh well, she talks to angels
And they call her out by her name, ooh yeah
She keeps a lock of hair in her pocket
She wears a cross around her neck
They say that the hair was from a little boy
The cross from someone she had not met
No, not yet
Says she talks to the angels
And they call her out by her name
Well, she talks to angels
And they call her out by her name
She don't know no lover
None that I've ever seen
To her that don't mean nothin'
But to me, it means
Means everything
Means everything
Whoa, she paints her eyes as black as the night
You know, she pulls her shades on down tight
Said my girl wanna give a smile when the pain come
Pain, the only thing don't make it alright
Yeah, that's right
