How Jake And Logan Paul Went From YouTube Stars To In-Ring Champions

Despite several online controversies over the years, the Paul brothers are dominating their respective sports.

What a week this is for the Paul family. Logan and Jake Paul are two of the world's most polarizing but popular entertainers right now, with both having transitioned in recent years to make a name for themselves inside the squared circle. Although their respective sports — boxing for Jake and a burgeoning WWE career for Logan — are different, both brothers have brought new eyes to their sport and exceeded all expectations.

Last Saturday, Jake Paul improved his boxing record to 6-0 by defeating MMA legend Anderson Silva. The fight was extremely close, but Paul scored a brutal knockdown in the eighth and final round to seal the deal and pick up the victory. Just a short week after that fight, Logan Paul is set to take on Roman Reigns in the main event of WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Nov. 5. It wasn’t always this way for the Paul brothers, though, who got their start on YouTube and Vine — a since-retired video sharing social media site — before coming to boxing and professional wrestling.

The Paul brothers gained notoriety around 2015 when they began posting comedy sketches and content on YouTube, though they originally began making internet content starting around age 10. Logan’s channel currently has more than 23 million subscribers and almost 6 billion total video views. However, with that notoriety came plenty of controversies: Logan was called out for posting a video of an apparent suicide victim in Japan's Aokigahara forest in 2018 and briefly lost advertising rights later that year after what YouTube called a concerning "pattern of behavior"; Jake has been the subject of sexual assault and harassment claims that he has denied, with a 2021 report in "The New York Times" claiming he'd "groped" his then-17-year-old employee.

Despite their divisive online presences, the pair have been able to transition their cultural clout into their relatively new-found in-ring careers. In 2018, a YouTube trend saw some of the biggest content creators enter boxing matches against each other, with the biggest matches being between the Pauls and KSI and his younger brother, Deji Olatunji. Both Paul brothers, especially Jake, were successful in their respective fights before moving on to professional competition. And that was that: Jake fell in love with boxing and now calls himself “obsessed” with it while Logan, on the other hand, transitioned to professional wrestling where he picked up a victory in his first match at WrestleMania 38 while teaming with The Miz. The short-lived duo then fought each other at SummerSlam, with Paul once again coming out on top after signing with WWE earlier this year through next.

With Jake having defeated his childhood hero in Anderson Silva by unanimous decision last Saturday, the world now waits to see if Logan will follow suit and pull off the most shocking upset in WWE history by defeating Roman Reigns.

You can relive both of Logan Paul’s previous matches on the WWE Network on Peacock!
