Scare Tactics' "Cursed Collection" Prankster Got Freaked Out By Her Own Setup
Would you leave your family member behind to be taken out by a possessed couch?
You know a prank is good on Scare Tactics when it's not just the victim who gets scared. That's exactly what happened during the titular "The Cursed Collection" prank in Scare Tactics Season 1, Episode 4.
Prankster Jada Adams, who set up her cousin Colbi to be chased around a furniture store by a possessed couch cushion, told USA Insider via an email interview that the setup was so convincing even she couldn't help but feel some heart-pounding panic. Of course, it was all laughs in the end, but the set-up was truly epic.

Jada explained that the ruse to get Colbi to the furniture store — that they'd be shooting promo video with an influencer — wasn't the original plan.
"I told my cousin Colbi that we were going to get videos of us riding on roller coasters and having fun at an amusement park," she explained. "Then I ended up telling him that there was a change of plans and we were going to meet a well-known influencer and that we were going to be doing a photoshoot with her and get paid for the shoot."
And as our host Flip says in the setup sequence, who could say no to that opportunity?
"He never suspected that I was setting him up," Jada said. "He did question why we were changing our plans but when I mentioned it’s a paid photoshoot, he was happy and even went to get a haircut to prepare."

Upon arriving, the pair met "Molly the Magnificent," who was there to help promote the grand opening of a new furniture store that had previously burned down. Things got a little spooky right away, but Molly claimed she "ain't afraid of no ghosts."
The trio changed their tune pretty quickly, though, as events grew stranger and stranger.
Scare Tactics prankster "felt so bad" about scaring her cousin with a possessed couch
"During the scare, I was hoping that [Colbi] wouldn’t just run out and be like [eff] this, we are leaving," Jada said. "He stayed longer than I expected him to. I was scared that he was going to leave almost immediately and that he would run so far off-camera that we wouldn’t be able to get a good reaction.
"I was wondering how everything was going to play out, and I just was thinking that I needed to act as natural as possible so that he wouldn’t suspect a thing," she continued. "I was excited to see how my pranking vision would come to life, and it was done very well."
After testing out a couple of couches and speaking to them, things got really weird: a couch in the corner started vibrating; lights flickered; objects jumped and toppled off shelves; disembodied screams echoed through the store.

And then, a couch cushion seemingly jumped to life, snarling and chasing the group around the store as Colbi (rightfully) yelled out, "Oh, s---" over and over again and got the hell out of dodge.
"I felt bad afterward because he took off of work and flew into town just to get pranked," Jada explained. "I was hoping that he wouldn’t feel embarrassed. But I was also happy that the prank was successful and that his reaction was so big and comedic. My first thought was, 'Dang, he’s probably already plotting to get me back.'"
Upon discovering that he's a Scare Tactics victim, Colbi was right back to his friendly self. "I peed a little," he even admitted after the fact during the episode.
The scariest parts of this Scare Tactics prank
"The freakiest part was when the pillow fell and knocked over the glass because I wasn’t expecting that to happen. I think what also freaked me out was that he literally ran off and left me. That makes me feel like in a dangerous situation he wouldn’t care enough to save my life," she explained, adding an "lol."

The other scary part?
"I probably would have been freaked out by the way the influencer carried herself because her demeanor was very odd," Jada said. "I would have been creeped out a bit and thought that I was being set up to be kidnapped to be honest!"
Of course, everything was fine in the end and everyone involved got a good laugh out of it. If Jada gets a chance to set someone else up, though, she'll be targeting her mom.
"Her reaction is always insane and unpredictable," she said. "She would have us all laughing until we peed ourselves. She’s like Colbi but times 10 when it comes to being hilarious."
