Roman Reigns' Top 5 Wins Ahead Of His Brock Lesnar Match At SummerSlam 2022
It’s Roman Reigns’ world and the rest of us are just living in it.
It’s Roman Reigns’ world and the rest of us are just living in it. Since he arrived on the WWE scene in 2010, the current Universal Champion has been smacking down opponents left and right — but some wins are more iconic than others.
With SummerSlam 2022 just around the corner, there are plenty of matches to look forward to. Few have garnered as much attention as Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar, an ongoing feud that bubbled over once again when Lesnar turned a handshake into an attack back in June. The upcoming Last Man Standing Match for the title of Undisputed Universal Champion is sure to be a whopper, but before we get there, we thought it appropriate to review Reigns’ long-standing history of wins, as we haven’t been able to keep our eyes off Lesnar’s latest Raw showdowns.
5. The Big Show, Extreme Rules 2015
Roman Reigns is no stranger to pain, but the look on his face in 2015 when he took down The Big Show makes us hurt just thinking about it.
With The Big Show slumped atop a table, exhausted, Reigns saw his chance to tackle his opponent and take him down — only to then bury him under yet another table in a feat of strength so impressive it left the crowd truly stunned. Panting, Reigns counted down along with the crowd, cementing Big Show’s defeat.
4. Triple H, WrestleMania 32 (2016)
All the smack talk Reigns threw out before WrestleMania 32 proved fruitful when, after a months-long battle for supremacy, Reigns finally managed to take down Triple H for his third WWE World Heavyweight Championship win. Not even a hammer assist from Triple H’s main squeeze Stephanie McMahon could stop Reigns’ inevitable win when he laid Triple H out with a multi-Superman Punch attack and finished with a Spear.
3. John Cena, No Mercy 2017
A generational battle was fought and won in 2017 when Roman Reigns took down John Cena. As powerhouse frontmen, their match held a certain weight that truly came through when Reigns managed to take down Cena!
Of course, Cena proved himself a class act once again by taking the loss with such grace — but a loss is a loss.
2. The Undertaker, WrestleMania 33 (2017)
As the announcers declared back in 2017, Reigns took a “Spear to the heart of The Undertaker” when he laid the legendary behemoth out. While The Undertaker released everything in his soul that day, even the fires of hell couldn’t hold a candle to Reigns’ determination.
Reigns’ win marked The Undertaker’s second only WrestleMania loss over a decades-long career, proving Reigns knows how to bring the heat. The first Superstar to do so was Brock Lesnar …
And speaking of Lesnar …
1. Brock Lesnar, SummerSlam 2018
How appropriate that Brock Lesnar just called Reigns out in this week’s Monday Night RAW. At the July 11 event, Lesnar vowed to give Reigns “a country ass-kicking to the likes he’s never seen.”
Let us not forget, though, how Reigns snatched up his first Universal Champion win in 2018 by taking down a rampaging Brock Lesnar. With Lesnar once again causing so much trouble in the squared circle, will Reigns have to put him in his place once more? Will he be able to? Audiences are likely to find out when Lesnar and Reigns face off once again at SummerSlam 2022, which takes place on Saturday, July 30.
