‘I See The Truth’: Ashley Reacts To Lascelles Declaring His Love For Someone Else On ‘Temptation Island’
On the "Temptation Island After Show," Ashely Rodriguez says she learned a lot about Lascelles Lagares when he declared his love for Trace Winningham.
Perhaps the most shocking moment of the latest episode of “Temptation Island” was when Lascelles Lagares declared he's only interested in talking with Trace Winningham, essentially signaling his intention to pursue something with her rather than the woman he came to the island with: Ashley Rodriguez.
On the “Temptation Island After Show,” the duo got to watch the infamous “soapbox moment,” which put him on the defensive and sparked confusion in her.
When Lascelles watches the clip with the other guys, he agrees it was a big swing that alienated most of the household. However, he still has no regrets.
“I’m here for me, not to satisfy everyone else,” he says.
However, he does reveal he understands why the single women were alienated by his remarks. That said, he claims he was at the end of his rope when it came to making other women like Olivia Chapman and Alexa Coppola understand where his heart was at.
“In my head, I thought I was just being very clear. Just like, ‘I only want to romantically involve myself with Trace. I appreciate you all but I just want to pursue this romantically,'” he says. “But when watching myself, I see that it comes off standoffish.”
He adds: “When people keep pushing your buttons, you’re going to say things you might not mean, exactly. So I had to set the tone. Unfortunately, you have to take things a step too far in order for people to get it."
Ashley, meanwhile, still seems confused about her boyfriend’s big moment.
“It’s crazy how you just jump from a long-term relationship to a little ‘situationship,’” Ashley tells the other ladies. “You know nothing about this girl.”
She speculates Lascelles was just in a bit of a brain fog from having so many women “swarming” him while on the island.
“It could be an ego thing, I don’t know,” she says. “It showed me a lot of who he is as a person.”
However, her biggest takeaway from what she witnessed was realizing how much he may have been projecting his insecurities onto her.
“I see the codependency now,” she says.”He’s always telling me how I need to be more independent and not really him being independent ... But it’s actually him that needs to work on that."
While Lascelles continues to make excuses for his behavior on the island, Ashley seems to be turning inward on the “After Show” to see how this can help her grow.
“Everything is coming into place and I see the truth,” she concludes. “I see where his head is at … This was an eye-awakening moment.”
Is her realization coming too late to save her relationship or her experience on the island? Those curious will just have to tune into the rest of the season to find out.
