The Usos Make Play To Unify Raw, SmackDown Tag Team Titles
The Usos challenged RK-Bro to a title match on Raw, much to the chagrin of the Street Profits.
It’s all about unity in the WWE, it seems.
Following Roman Reigns’ defeat of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, unifying the WWE and Universal Championships, his tag team compatriots The Usos are embarking on a similar quest.
On Monday Night Raw, the SmackDown Tag Team champs made a surprise appearance, declaring their desire to unify both the Raw and SmackDown titles. Reigns said Friday he wanted them to challenge Raw title holders RK-Bro (Randy Orton and Riddle), in hopes of them bringing even more unified glory to their crew.
Reigns is proving to be anything but complacent following his historic victory over Lesnar. Last week on Raw, with The Usos and Paul Heyman at his side, The Tribal Chief declared that “we are never content.”
Now, WWE fans have a bit more insight into what that meant.
The action on Raw began after RK-Bro beat Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis), successfully defending the championship they earned at WrestleMania. The Usos then showed up to make good on Reigns’ intention, laying down a challenge to RK-Bro that would unify the tag team titles.
But it turned out to be not quite so simple. The Street Profits also showed up, miffed at The Usos for essentially cutting the line. As they told The Usos, they “can unify the tag team championships our own damn selves.”
This wouldn’t be settled by a debate over each team’s relative merits, of course. At the suggestion of RK-Bro, The Usos and Street Profits decided to fight it out in the ring. And the SmackDown champions proved more than equal to the task.
The three teams then all left together to get ice cream. No, of course they didn’t! After The Usos departed, The Street Profits ended up attacking RK-Bro. Amid the chaos, The Usos made their way back to the ring to join in the beatdown of Orton and Riddle. At the end of the night, there they were, posing with both titles.
There seems to be a lot more drama in store in the coming weeks.
