WWE Money In The Bank 2023 Matches To Look Forward To Besides The Ladder Clashes
The WWE Universe will be treated to a WrestleMania-worthy event on July 1 when Money in the Bank 2023 kicks off!
WrestleMania season may seem like a distant memory, but that's not keeping WWE from presenting an unforgettable and WrestleMania-esque edition of Money in the Bank in 2023.
Every member of the WWE Universe knows the event traditionally focuses on the men's and women's Money in the Bank ladder matches. These thrilling contests often defy the laws of gravity and set the stage for two Superstars to capture contracts good for a title match of their choosing – wherever and whenever they want. This year, however, Money in the Bank 2023 is an event so big that the ladder matches are forced to share the spotlight in the absolute best way.
Here are the non-ladder matches scheduled for Money in the Bank 2023 that we fully expect to rock our world.
Cody Rhodes vs. Dominik Mysterio
Even though Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar are currently embroiled in one of the most vicious rivalries in recent memory, that hasn't stopped Dominik Mysterio from getting under Rhodes' skin in recent weeks. Ever since Rhea Ripley captured the WWE Women's World Championship at WrestleMania, Dom-Dom has been especially unbearable, often sticking his nose in other people's business.
It doesn't take much to get the attention of Rhodes, so a slap to the face will certainly get the job done.
After losing to his father, Rey Mysterio, at WrestleMania, Dominik will again find himself in a high-profile event where he's seen as the ultimate underdog. Dominik's poor attitude aside, he does have Mysterio blood running through his veins, and if Rhodes walks into Money in the Bank thinking this will be an easy victory en route to a third showdown with Lesnar, he should think again. Dominik is as dangerous as they come – and with The Judgment Day backing him, anything can happen on July 1.
The Bloodline Civil War: The Usos vs. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa
After years of twists and turns in The Bloodline storyline, the WWE Universe will finally witness what always seemed inevitable: The Usos battling against Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. Roman recently surpassed the 1000-day mark as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and he was only able to accomplish that by years of gaslighting Jimmy and Jey Uso. After a few well-placed superkicks on the June 16 episode of SmackDown, The Usos made their message clear: It's time for war.
Billed as "The Bloodline Civil War," the tag team match is destined to be the latest chapter in The Bloodline saga. We fully expect the action and drama to be off the charts, and if there's one thing we know about Roman Reigns, it's that he is never unprepared. The WWE Universe should prepare itself for anything in this match, including twists, turns, betrayals, and surprises. Above all other matches on the card, this one is most worthy of taking place at WrestleMania. Fortunately, the hatred between the warring Bloodline is just too volatile to wait nine more months.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor
The bad blood between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor runs deep. It seems like just yesterday when Balor had to relinquish the inaugural WWE Universal Championship due to injuries suffered at the hands of Rollins. Although that chain of events occurred in 2016, it's clear that Balor still has revenge on his mind seven years later. In Balor's mind, it's an eye for an eye, which means going after Rollins' coveted World Heavyweight Title.
Unlike The Bloodline, The Judgment Day is as strong as ever, and Balor is using his support system to his advantage. For the past few weeks, he's attacked Rollins at every opportunity, most recently at the end of the June 20 episode of NXT, immediately after Rollins successfully retained the World Heavyweight Title against Bron Breakker.
While Rollins has made it known that his mission is to bring prestige to his new championship by being a fighting champion, he'll face the biggest test of his reign at Money in the Bank. This version of Balor is laser-focused on taking what he believes belongs to him, which could spell trouble for The Visionary on July 1. However, no matter the outcome at Money in the Bank, the WWE Universe will be treated to an instant classic. That's how good these two Superstars are.
Of course, these matches are just cherries on the top of an already stacked lineup highlighted by the men's and women's Money in the Bank ladder matches. With the fields finally being set after weeks of qualifying matches (with one notable exception), it'll be intriguing to see which Superstars climb the ladder, grab the proverbial brass ring, and take the next steps toward immortality.
It's going to be a Money in the Bank for the ages!
