WWE Night of Champions: How to Watch, Who’s Wrestling?
In just a few weeks, WWE will present May’s second can’t-miss Premium Live Event, Night of Champions. Here’s everything you need to know!
The WWE Universe is usually graced with only one monthly Premium Live Event. Still, May is a little different – just a few weeks after the rollercoaster ride that was Backlash, fans worldwide are already looking forward to WWE Night of Champions!
What Is WWE Night of Champions?
Night of Champions is traditionally the night when most, if not all, WWE titles are up for grabs. Announced cards are usually jam-packed with championship match after championship match, guaranteeing an unforgettable event! Night of Champions is a Premium Live Event composed of all killer, no filler.

Beginning in 2007, Night of Champions has a storied history of being home to countless heart-stopping happenings. Superstars like Triple H, John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and Randy Orton have all competed in title matches at the event with varying degrees of success. After all, due to the high-stakes nature of the night, each iteration brings triumphant wins and crushing losses.
The WWE Universe hasn’t experienced a Night of Champions in nearly a decade, as the last event occurred in 2015. Eight years is a long time for fans to wait for the return of such an epic event, but we’re glad it’s back!
How To Watch WWE Night of Champions
Like all Premium Live Events, the only way to watch WWE Night of Champions in the U.S. is to tune in on Peacock! Of course, international fans can utilize the WWE Network to watch the show. Still, American audiences can rest easy because watching your favorite Superstars compete in the ring is as easy as throwing on an episode of The Office.
Night of Champions 2023 takes place on May 27, 2023. While details are still to be finalized, the event will begin at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time, which sets up millions in the WWE Universe with quite an exciting Saturday afternoon.
Of course, you may wonder why the show isn’t starting at night, as is typical for WWE events…
Where Will WWE Night of Champions Take Place?
The early-afternoon start time for Night of Champions is because the event will broadcast live from Jeddah Super Dome in Saudi Arabia! So yes, it’s another international event for WWE fans. After the events of Backlash in Puerto Rico, the bar has been set pretty high for the Superstars competing at the event.
Saudi Arabia has been the home to many classic WWE moments in recent years, such as Brock Lesnar defeating Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship in 2018 and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg recapturing the Universal Championship from Bray Wyatt in 2020. So yeah – big things happen whenever the WWE shows up in Saudi Arabia!
What Matches Will Take Place at WWE Night of Champions?
While the lineup is still weeks from being finalized, two tantalizing matches are announced for WWE Night of Champions 2023.
The World Heavyweight Championship will be decided in a match that will set the course for WWE for the foreseeable future as Seth “Freakin” Rollins will represent Monday Night RAW against SmackDown’s number-one contender. Rollins’ challenger will be the Superstar left standing after tonight’s series of matches on SmackDown. Whether it’s Edge, Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, Austin Theory, Bobby Lashley, or Sheamus, Seth Rollins will have a monumental task on his hands come Night of Champions.
In the other announced contest, Cody Rhodes will meet Brock Lesnar in what is being billed as, well, a fight.
Due to Brock Lesnar’s refusal to accept his Backlash loss, he’s seemingly made it his mission to make Cody Rhodes’ life a living hell on Monday Night RAW. He’s hammered Rhodes into oblivion every chance he’s gotten, even going so far as to interfere in Cody’s World Heavyweight title tournament match. Now that The American Nightmare is out of World Heavyweight title contention, he finds himself in an unenviable position: Meeting Brock Lesnar in a fight at Night of Champions.
Their previous encounter at Backlash was a shockingly-bloody affair, and that was billed as a straight wrestling match! Who knows what kind of bloodshed will go down in Saudi Arabia.
Although WWE has only announced two matches so far, that means that there’s plenty more to come, so stay locked in to USA Insider for the latest news surrounding WWE Night of Champions 2023!
