Everything You Need to Know About Roxanne Perez's In-Ring Collapse At NXT Roadblock
The WWE Universe is holding out for good news from the NXT Women’s Champion.
The professional wrestling world was rocked last night as one of its brightest young stars suddenly lost consciousness immediately after her match.
Current NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez’s condition is currently unknown, but the WWE Universe is collectively crossing its fingers. After a grueling — and ultimately successful — title defense against Meiko Satomura in the main event of NXT Roadblock last night, the 21-year-old Superstar from Laredo, Texas, seemed woozy as her opponent paid respect to her post-match. Just seconds later, Roxanne collapsed to the mat as the shocked NXT production crew scrambled to make sense of what just transpired.
Emergency medical personnel immediately administered aid to the fallen champion, and within minutes she was escorted via ambulance to a local medical facility. WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels — who once passed out mid-match during a 1995 episode of Monday Night RAW — could be seen rushing to Roxanne’s side as NXT went off the air.

No further information is known about the condition of Roxanne Perez other than a grim update from the official NXT Twitter account that came in late Tuesday evening:
While the official update ostensibly tells us what we already knew, it’s hard to jump to conclusions since there are so many unknowns at play here.
Roxanne’s post-match collapse has garnered attention from countless news outlets such as Fox News and Yahoo, with many WWE fans left in the dark — and theorizing what caused the champion to lose consciousness so suddenly. Some in the WWE Universe are pointing to Roxanne’s backstage pre-match interview where she described the grueling training she had been putting herself through in preparation for her title defense against Meiko Satomura, a woman who many believe to be one of the most hard-hitting female Superstars in wrestling history. In fact, at multiple points in the match, Roxanne seemed to be hit hard in her head and neck area, leading to speculation that she was fighting through a concussion throughout the latter portion of the match. The NXT commentating team cried out “oh, no” more than once during the match — directly referencing the punishment that Roxanne was going through.
The NXT Women’s Championship has been held by Roxanne Perez for 84 days and counting. She won the championship after decisively beating long-term champion Mandy Rose in December 2022 — a decision marred in controversy over the decision to release Mandy Rose immediately after the match. As of press time, there has been no decision made on the status of the women’s title, as WWE management is opting for a “wait and see” approach in lieu of preemptively stripping Roxanne of her championship.
In-ring collapses are fairly uncommon in the world of professional wrestling — especially in WWE. Roxanne Perez has had no underlying health issues that USA Insider knows of that would contribute to her collapse, and we stand united with the WWE Universe in hopes that Roxanne will make a full recovery. There is optimism throughout the NXT locker room that Roxanne’s collapse was indeed a direct result of over-training and general exhaustion — but let us make this perfectly clear: this is a “crossing our fingers” situation.
Stay tuned to USA Insider for more information as it develops.
