Jade Cargill Reveals WWE Inspiration And Her WrestleMania Dream Opponent
WWE's newest Superstar has big aspirations. Who is Jade Cargill hoping she meets in the ring at WrestleMania?
The wrestling world is still reeling from the news that Jade Cargill has jumped ship from AEW to WWE.
The WWE Universe must understand the gravity of this turn of events. Jade Cargill is arguably the greatest athlete professional wrestling has ever seen. She is what happens when you play WWE 2K23, create a WWE Superstar from scratch, and turn all her attributes to the max. Her decision to sign with WWE gives the worldwide leader in sports entertainment the single best free-agent signing since it lured Cody Rhodes away from the company he built from the ground up.
Why Did Jade Cargill Sign With WWE?
The hype train is running at full speed for Jade Cargill, and a whirlwind media tour is in full effect. Jade's been making the rounds in the past few days, granting interviews with ESPN and The Masked Man Show. The long-running former women's champion of AEW has been candid in the days leading up to her WWE debut, and the WWE Universe will be happy to know that she has big plans for herself in the upcoming weeks, months, and years. When The Masked Man Show point-blank asked why she signed with WWE, Jade directly stated her intentions for the future.
"I want to create a legacy – I want to be in the Hall of Fame," she explained. "I want to wrestle with the best women in the world. There is no grander stage than this stage. The opportunities are endless with this company. It was a no-brainer. It was very welcoming. I didn't have any second thoughts about it at all. It was an easy choice. It wasn't easy – but it was easy."
Jade isn't wrong – for any professional wrestler seeking to reach the pinnacle of the industry, WWE stands alone as the gateway to greatness. In a way, we are surprised she didn't sign with WWE sooner!
Why Did Jade Cargill Leave AEW?
Jade's nearly three-year run in AEW has come to a surprising end, but it becomes decidedly less shocking when the WWE Universe finds out that one of her closest friends was a catalyst for her decision to jump ship. Leaving AEW had to be somewhat tricky for Jade – after all, it's the only wrestling organization she's known. However, it's always easier when someone else blazes a trail for you to follow, and that's precisely what happened in her case. Speaking to The Masked Man Show, Jade admits she is proud to follow in Cody Rhodes' footsteps.
"[Cody] is a phenomenal man," she declared. "You know, I've seen what the business did for him. I've seen him just be the stellar athlete that he is. I didn't see any different for myself – he was one of the guys that led me to a great decision."
Cody Rhodes has paved the way for wrestlers to make the jump from AEW to WWE, so who's next after Jade Cargill? We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, although the WWE Universe may get an answer to this question sooner than later, judging by a mysterious teaser involving Cincinnati and old WCW clips that appeared during the September 26 episode of NXT.
What is Jade Cargill's WrestleMania Dream Match?
The WWE Universe will be happy to know that Jade is not only confident in her abilities in the ring, but she's already targeting a specific former women's champion! Jade mentioned to ESPN that her WrestleMania dream match features her taking on Bianca Belair with a title on the line!
"It's definitely a WrestleMania main event," Jade confessed. "That is something that will have people glued to the television screen – something that will have people buying out stadiums. That's a dream match. People will show up and show out for that one."
Bianca taking on Jade on the Grandest Stage of Them All is a match we never knew we wanted – until now. We love how Jade is setting her sights on the upper echelon of the women's division before she's even stepped in a WWE ring!
Which WWE Brand Is Jade Cargill Joining?
Of course, the most pressing question on the mind of the WWE Universe is straightforward, and it's something USA Insider covered on September 26: Will Jade Cargill debut in NXT – or on Raw or SmackDown as part of the main roster? As it turns out, Jade knows the answer to this question but is keeping it under wraps. Her goal is simple: To keep the WWE Universe guessing.
"Everybody's going to have to tune in to every network to see where I'm going," she told ESPN. "I'm here to stir the pot and keep people guessing where I'm going to be. So just tune in."
Obviously, adding a Superstar like Jade Cargill would be a huge "get" for any roster, but it looks like – as Jade advised – we'll have to wait and find out in due time. However, Jade hasn't wasted time so far, going as far as interacting with SmackDown Superstar Bayley on social media in the past 24 hours:
We can't be the only ones salivating over the dream matches that are now possible with Jade's signing. Give us Bayley and Jade going one-on-one. Give us Jade and Asuka. Jade and Becky Lynch. Jade battling Charlotte Flair. (And, of course, Jade and Bianca at WrestleMania.)
For Jade Cargill, the future is now.
You can tune in to Peacock to watch WWE's Fastlane on October 7. In the meantime, catch up on all things WWE Universe on Peacock.
