Gunther, WWE's Longest-Reigning Intercontinental Champion Ever, Becomes a Father
WWE Superstar Gunther passes another historic milestone, this time in his personal life!
One of the most prestigious champions in WWE history just celebrated a monumental personal milestone.
USA Insider is proud to report that Gunther, the current Intercontinental Champion, has become a father! The leader of WWE's Imperium faction and his wife, Jinny, welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world on Wednesday morning, announcing the birth via social media.
A man of few words, Gunther put his son's birth into perspective, calling it "a blessing." We have to agree!
We're already anticipating the inevitable Instagram videos showing Gunther teaching his son the art of the perfect pro wrestling chop across the chest – after all, nobody does it better than the Intercontinental Champion!

Judging by the comments on Gunther's social media post, it looks like the WWE Universe is united in congratulating the couple on the future member of Imperium. By all accounts, Gunther's wife and son are happy and healthy.
Who is Gunther's Wife?
Longtime members of the WWE Universe should be familiar with Gunther's wife, whom he married in a small ceremony earlier this year. Jinny had a memorable run in NXT-UK for a few years before ultimately retiring due to injury in January 2023. A veteran of the professional wrestling industry since 2015, she engaged in memorable feuds with current main roster mainstays Rhea Ripley, Isla Dawn, and Piper Niven throughout her NXT-UK career.
Gunther and Jinny met while competing on the British independent scene and have been inseparable ever since.
How Long Has Gunther Been WWE Intercontinental Champion?
Impressively, Gunther has held the WWE Intercontinental Title for over 560 days, demolishing The Honky Tonk Man's record of 454 days, a distinction that stood since 1988. This kind of title reign (unless your name is Roman Reigns) is unheard of in modern-day WWE, as Intercontinental Championship reigns aren't marked by their longevity – the title is so illustrious that the intense competition between WWE Superstars causes it to be held by many athletes in a single calendar year. But clearly, nobody told that to Gunther when he first won the title on June 10, 2022, during a classic episode of SmackDown. He's held it ever since, steamrolling through all contenders en route to one of the most dominating title reigns ever.
What's even more impressive is that Gunther shows no signs of slowing down. The champion has successfully defended his championship on countless occasions, fending off efforts from WWE Superstars like Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Ricochet, and, most recently, The Miz. But for nearly two years running, no man has come close to dethroning Gunther.
Talk about a story to tell your son one day!
Although Roman Reigns deserves all of the attention for his current record-breaking Undisputed WWE Universal Title reign, Gunther has proven that he should be mentioned in the same breath as The Tribal Chief.
Of course, with WrestleMania looming in just a few months, Gunther will quite possibly have his biggest test yet – although, by this point, the WWE Universe knows better than to ever bet against him.
Congratulations to Gunther and Jinny on the birth of their first son!
