Roxanne Perez’s Doctor Gives Shocking Update On Her Current Condition After Collapse
We don’t know what to make of this latest news about our reigning NXT Women's Champion.
The future of one of the brightest Superstars in professional wrestling is up in the air as WWE has released a medical update on Roxanne Perez, the reigning NXT Women's Champion who collapsed last week after a title defense.
Details surrounding Roxanne's condition have been surprisingly scarce, considering her collapse happened a week ago. Luckily, Roxanne's doctor made an appearance during last night's episode of NXT to give the WWE Universe some much-needed news:
"When it comes to Roxanne's situation we've checked three potential areas: the head, the heart, and the vessels in her body," Dr. Warren Becker explained. "All of Ms. Perez's bloodwork came back reassuring. She was not identified as being dangerously dehydrated, her initial CT scan showed no abnormalities on the brain, and furthermore, Ms. Perez's EKG showed no heart arrhythmia."

The WWE Universe breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this news. Dr. Becker ruling out severe heart and brain conditions is good news. However, Dr. Becker explained that Roxanne's situation is still ongoing.
"Unfortunately, this presents us with a difficult issue in that we are unable to identify what caused Ms. Perez to collapse," he revealed before assuring fans Roxanne would continue to be monitored by medical professionals — including a clinical psychologist — to investigate the issue further.
There's a lot to unpack here. This news is shocking to the WWE Universe because there are so many unknowns. It would be a different story if Roxanne was discovered to be dehydrated during last week's match — that's a relatively straightforward "fix" for the champion in the grand scheme of things. However, that isn't the case. Sadly, not even the best doctors in the world know precisely why Roxanne collapsed on March 7.
It's never a good sign when a team of doctors cannot pinpoint the cause of an athlete losing consciousness before, during, or after physical activity. Although Roxanne's heart and head are healthy, everything else is on the table. Dr. Becker bringing up Roxanne possibly being held hostage by psychological issues could cause alarm. If the stress of being NXT Women's Champion is too much for the 21-year-old, it may completely derail her professional wrestling career. Of course, we're speaking out of turn here — the health and safety of Roxanne are paramount at this point, and her career and the championship she currently holds take a backseat to her health. According to reports, Roxanne Perez is comfortably at her home in Laredo, Texas, as she continues to recover.
Will Roxanne Perez Be Stripped Of Her Title?
WWE's Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, Shawn Michaels, is concerned about this latest news. He's already made a contingency plan for the NXT Women's title if Roxanne is forced to vacate the championship she's held since December 2022, when she memorably defeated long-term champion Mandy Rose. With Roxanne's health still in question, HBK quickly put a plan in motion, which started to play out last night on NXT:
If — and only if — Roxanne Perez is stripped of her title, then the vacated championship will be put up for grabs in a ladder match at NXT Stand and Deliver on April 1, an event slated to take place just hours before night one of WrestleMania.
Shawn Michaels is no stranger to experiencing what Roxanne is going through, as a 1995 episode of Monday Night RAW was halted due to Michaels losing consciousness and collapsing mid-match. However, if there's one person who has complete empathy and care for the current NXT Women's Champion, it's Shawn Michaels.
As always, USA Insider will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as we receive them. We want to pass along best wishes to Roxanne Perez during her recovery, and we're crossing our fingers for good news in the near future.
